Grape Canvas

Visuals Arts is a creative discipline open for interpretation by the Artist.
Wine is an expression of taste interpreted by the Winemaker.

Our Art Instructor (J.A. Medcalf) will lead us through a journey of painting paired with a wine tasting by our Sommelier (Derrick Westbrook). Throughout the evening you will create your own interpretation of art through brush strokes and libations. We created this event to build a community around a unique experience hosted by leading creatives in the city of Chicago.

BUY ART, NOT VICES

to Mar 1

BUY ART, NOT VICES

BUY ART, NOT VICES is a panel discussion and silent art auction that aims to be a celebration of black history and culture, as well as an opportunity to have a real discussion with industry influencers about the importance and value of buying art as opposed to materialistic vices.
The artwork will depict black history across various time periods through the eyes of local artists. Each artist will select an era in black history (ranging from ancient Africa, to slavery, reconstruction, the great migration, civil rights movement, the Motown era, 90s hip hop, the first black president, the future, etc.) and create with that era in mind. The work will be exhibited at NYCH gallery through March 1st and will be sold via silent auction. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the gray matter experience, a local nonprofit organization exposing black youth to entrepreneurship and providing access to tools and resources to help them build businesses that impact their communities.
The event will include a panel discussion featuring local artists, curators and gallery owners regarding the importance of buying art and supporting artists in the community, followed by a cocktail reception and lite bites.

Race Together: Culture, Cocktails and Art

Each year, Partners for a Racism-Free Community hosts its annual fundraiser Race Together as a way of supporting the work of the organization while also creating space for the community to celebrate its rich diversity. Last year, we had nearly 200 supporters gather and enjoy a night of food, the hilarious commentary of comedian’s T Murph and Deborah Delk along with the incredible poetry of local Grand Rapids artists.  It was a night where everything we love about this community was celebrated: collaboration, inspiration and hope.

On Thursday, December 8, 2016, Partners for a Racism-Free Community is hosting Race Together at CityFlats Ballroom in downtown Grand Rapids. This year we will highlight the way art influences culture and the impact it has on society. Our featured artist of the night will be local musical sensation Vox Vidorra, with the masterful mixes of DJ SuperDre and the art of native Grand Rapidian J.A.Medcalf. While this event will undoubtedly be a wonderful night of entertainment, it is also an important way to support the work PRFC does on a daily basis in the community.

Help us continue to do racial equity work and join us in a night of entertainment.
